The house

Engineered for outside. Not patio furniture.

Brown Jordan began in Southern California in 1945 with an idea that was then new: outdoor furniture could be considered with the same seriousness as anything inside the home. Its collections move between powder-coated aluminum, woven fiber, sling, teak and outdoor textiles, balancing refined silhouettes with materials selected for life outside. The result is furniture made for weather without looking governed by it.

How it's made

The frame

Cast and extruded aluminium

Hand-forged and lightweight, and the material the house genuinely stands behind: fifteen years against structural failure, and the same fifteen against the finish peeling or blistering. Everything else in the catalogue is warranted for less.

The weave

Woven over aluminium

A woven piece carries the same fifteen years on its frame and three on the weave itself. Both are Brown Jordan's own figures, and together they are the honest way to choose between a woven piece and a slung one for a hard west-facing terrace.

The textiles

Five years on fabric

Cushions, slings and umbrellas are warranted five years against colour and strength loss from sun and weather. Sling rails, stitching, zippers and cushion foam are one year — the fabric outlasts the making of it.

Every piece is specified before it's built — finish, cover, cushion and configuration. We spec it with you in the showroom, then it gets made.

Slings, straps and lace

Twenty-three sling materials, fifteen Suncloth strap and lace options, thirteen vinyl and vinyl lace. The sling is what you sit on and what the sun reaches first.

Yacht-size, hand-wrapped by hand over the frame. It is what people reach for when they walk past one, and the reason a Brown Jordan lounger reads closer to rigging than to furniture.

Tops and surfaces

Four Dekton, four glass and acrylic, three fibre weaves, and teak. Each weathers differently and is warranted differently — teak carries three years where the aluminium carries fifteen, which is worth knowing before you choose one.
